Good morning from the farm

This is my first attempt at blogging, so bear with me. I live on a family farm where we raise Angus cattle. We also have hair sheep and I am excited about having our first lambs in September! We started raising wool sheep in 1988 as a 4-H project for our 2 daughters. We sold them in the fall of 2011 and I thought I was ready to not have sheep, but I was way wrong. Even though the girls had grown up and moved away, I still liked having the sheep around. So in the fall of 2012 we got us some "hair sheep" and are off on a new adventure. So far I have been impressed with them.

My dream to live in a barn kind of took off when Tommy and I worked on a horse barn for a neighbor. He was using rough sawn lumber that they had cut off the farm to line the stalls with and I really fell in love with it. So, to make a long story short, we redid the old farmhouse using rough sawn wood on the inside. We had moved out of it when the girls were growing up into a new house we had built across the road. We were in the process of tearing it down in 2008, but neither one of us could go through with it and so we spent the next 4 years putting it back together to look as much like a barn as we could. We moved into it last fall and I dearly love living here. I will try to blog about all the ups and downs we went through later. We put a lot of time in on it. There were times when we just had to walk away and come back later, because it seemed to big for the 2 of us.

I think I am going to enjoy this blog and look forward to adding to it.
